This method is applicable to the qualitative andquantitative determination of naphthenic acid in wood andsolutions containing copper naphthenate. This method alsocovers the identification of synthetic carboxylic acids andother non-naphthenic carboxylic acid contaminants innaphthenic acids in copper naphthenate. This procedure willidentify the presence of copper naphthenate or naphthenicacid in treated wood and is not intended for determinationof trace levels in wood. This gas chromatographic methodfor analysis of solutions was originally published in Proc.AWPA 95, 133-137 (1999) as an attachment to the 1999Subcommittee P-5 Report.
