Indoor CO2 and volatile organic compounds (VOC), together with occupant comfort, well-being, physiology, health and cognitive performance are influenced by ventilation. CO2 levels have been extensively used as a proxy for air quality in smart buildings ventilation and this approach is finding its way into aircraft cabins, automobiles and other means of transportation. Future control algorithms are focused on implementation of VOC levels and effects combined with environmental conditions. Enhanced control of ventilation system on aircraft, other means of transportation and buildings is aimed at improved persons’ well-being, performance as well as at environmental and economic benefits.
