Both state-of-the-art technology and consumer energy consumption patterns suggest that thegreatest overall, near-term impact can be made on the alleviation of the energy supply problemby an investigation at the end user level. With regards to energy utilization in buildings,conservation complemented by the economic application of modern engineering technology to heatingand cooling requirements can maximize the obtainable benefits.
Specifically this paper discusses the computation of the building energy requirements andheating/cooling equipment specifications for a two story four-unit apartment house in climaticregions of New York State.
