How ASHRAE Set the Rates for Residential Ventilation
Ventilation rates were first quantified in the mid–1800s in England. Since then many have weighed in on proper ventilation rates. ASHVE, ASHRAE’s predecessor, wrote a guide in 1922 that included recommendations for ventilation. ASHRAE has played a key role in ventilation standards over the years with Standard 62.
