LA-80-01-1 — A Study of the Effects and Economics of Capacity Modulation on Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratios (SEER) for Air Conditioners
The Department of Energy Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio regulations provide a method of comparing the seasonal efficiency of systems using various approaches to achieve high efficiency. These regulations are examined in detail and used with a study of the costs to achieve different levels of efficiency to determine the most cost effective approach to achieve those levels of seasonal efficiency. Also, operating savings with various levels of efficiency for several locations are examined and compared to the costs of achieving the various levels of efficiency in order to determine where high levels of efficiency are economically justifiable.
