Add NFPA 1937, Standard for the Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Rescue Tools, to your arsenal for helping to prevent health and safety risks that can occur with rescue tools and lifting bags.
In this new standard, the Technical Comittee on Fire Department Rescue Tools has developed the requirements to help ensure that the selection, care, and maintenance of rescue tools are met and that the tools are compliant with NFPA 1936, Standard on Rescue Tools.
This standard also establishes the procedures that comprise the selection, care, and maintenance program with which new rescue tools and lifting bags are required to comply.
NFPA 1937 enforces the value of a records management program for rescue tools.
NFPA 1937 also includes requirements for a records management program to help ensure that pertinent data is collected and retained. Tracking certain data can ensure that rescue tools and lifting bags are maintained properly, safe for the users, and undamaged. Such data can reduce potential health and safety risks that are associated with poorly maintained or obsolete rescue equipment. (Print, 24 pp., 2021)
