Radiant heating and cooling systems have been used as a proven design solution to improve indoor environmental quality while reducing overall energy usage. Many of the large scale installations around the world have been applications that have relatively consistent load profiles with minimal zoning: open lobbies, large assembly spaces, museums, shopping malls, airport terminals and maintenance facilities. Can these systems be effective in educational facilities, which may have transient load profiles, smaller discrete zones and fluctuating schedules? This seminar explores how radiant systems can meet the unique challenges of school HVAC system design.
